New APA DataMatrixSM Service Now Available to PharmaciesNew service allows pharmacies to participate in a revenue sharing arrangement in services based around their data.October 11, 2000The American Pharmacy AllianceSM (APA) announced today its strategic partnership with Dendrite International, Inc., the leading provider of sales and marketing effectiveness solutions for the pharmaceutical industry. The APA is a technology partnership between leading U.S. pharmacy software companies that provide software and system support services to 10,000 of the 23,000 independent and small chain pharmacies in the United States. Through the DataMatrixSM program, APA software companies together with their pharmacy clients will work with Dendrite to deliver a series of powerful analytical services used to evaluate the effectiveness of a broad number of health care initiatives, including pharmacy and physician based interventions. In conjunction with these measurement services, APA and Dendrite are also preparing to introduce programs through which pharmacists will be able to utilize the power of their pharmacy computer systems and their face-to-face access to patients to directly improve patient compliance, and be compensated for their efforts. "This program stands out because for the first time, pharmacies can participate in a direct revenue sharing arrangement as true partners in programs that utilize their dispensing data," said Karl Steele, President of The American Pharmacy Alliance. This alliance allows pharmacies to work with their APA software vendor to supply prescription data (not to include patient identification), which will be incorporated into Dendrite's sales and marketing services to offer its clients capabilities that will revolutionize physician level data and its use by the pharmaceutical industry. Further, this organization will coordinate with the participating pharmacies to develop and support additional performance-based pharmacy programs with Dendrite's clients. "By partnering with this important group of healthcare stakeholders, we will be able to create dynamic new offerings that will enable our pharmaceutical industry customers to provide unique 'intelligent data' to their respective sales forces'', said John Bailye, Chairman and CEO of Dendrite International, Inc.
