A Boost In Rebate EarningsThe two groups have agreed to implement the change in billing structure retroactively to April 1, 2002, and expect the elimination of data invoicing to enhance pharmacy rebates network-wide. In announcing the new agreement, APA president Karl Steele underscored the cost-effectiveness of changing to back-end billing. “This method of recouping the costs incurred from collecting store-level data is inherently more efficient for everyone,” said Steele, “and the lion’s share of cost savings will be passed on to participating pharmacies. Since APA software companies serve a large number of pharmacies participating in the Pharmacy First program, rebate earnings that are already at high levels will be enhanced even further throughout the entire network.”
