Pharmacy First and the American Pharmacy Alliance Restructure Network
Fees to Eliminate Data Billing
Pharmacy First, the largest network of independent and small chain
pharmacies in the United States, and the American Pharmacy Alliance
(APA), a national consortium of pharmacy software system providers,
announced today that the two groups have agreed to eliminate front-end
data fees charged to retailers participating in the network.
According to Pharmacy First executive director, Steven Friedman, retail
pharmacies using an APA software system provider will no longer receive
invoices to offset the cost of collecting the store-level data required
to earn program rebates. “We’ve been able to achieve this
through a position of strength,” said Friedman. “Our member
pharmacies are performing beautifully and earning outstanding rebate
dollars for their businesses. This has allowed us to shift our data
collection costs to the back-end of the rebate payment cycle, deducting
a small transaction fee from earnings instead of mailing separate invoices
to pharmacies.”
